Anonymity is secrecy. Secrecy is conspiracy. Conspiracy is a form of CORRUPTION. Crypto currencies are the TOP of speculation, even above the banking speculative system. While one’s identity is not directly tied to any address on the Bitcoin chain, the transparency of the chain allows for sophisticated analysis and de-anonymization, so it is not quite correct to call it anonymous.

There are other cryptocurrencies which attempt to deal with this issue — in the interest of full disclosure I have contributed quite a bit to Monero.
